Since 2003, La Lanterna is a family-owned and operated establishment. We take great pride in creating a friendly, genuine Tuscany dining experience.

Sit in the lively main dining room, host a party in our classic Brick Room, or enjoy dining al fresco in the warmer months.

We have expanded the restaurant, adding a newly renovated four-season porch. This dining room is equipped with heating and air conditioning so our guests will feel comfortable dining at any time of year.

We take your safety seriously at La Lanterna Café & Grill. We have installed a Hepa Air Filter, that purifies the air and removes 99.9% of the virus that causes COVID.

All common areas are deep-cleaned daily. Sanitizer or wipes are provided for our customers. Our staff wears masks, are vaccinated, and sick staff members are prohibited in the workplace.

Domenico Winery now sells their California wines at La Lanterna. Please ask your server for the available selection.

We are a BYOB Restaurant. Beer, Wine, and Champagne are welcome. There is a liquor store two blocks diagonally from the restaurant.

We have a 15-minute grace period. Please call us if you are running later than 15 minutes after your reservation time.

We may contact you about this reservation, so please ensure your email and phone number are up to date.

We have a 2 hour seating on Friday and Saturday.
For early diners 5 pm to 6:30 pm reservations can dine up to 8:30pm.
8 pm reservations and thereafter can stay until closing.

Thank you for choosing La Lanterna. Should your plans change, please let us know. We look forward to serving you.

Chef Hank Barrett

a chef in the restaurant

Chef Hank Barrett attended the Philadelphia Restaurant School, earning a degree in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management. After graduation, Chef Barrett went to France and Thailand for internships.

Chef Barrett has worked in such notable restaurants as Il Villaggio, Ho-Ho-Kus Inn, Union Square Café, and Allison on Dominick Street, in addition to being the opening chef of Sangria Tapas and Autumn in Sparkill, NY. Chef Barrett’s love for Tuscan cuisine brought him to La Lanterna in Ridgewood, bringing new specials like his Seared Hazelnut-Crusted Sea Bass, Beef Wellington, Braised Osso Bucco, and Roasted Lobster stuffed with delectable Crabmeat to the La Lanterna table. His knowledge, crisp presence, and talent for taking rustic straightforward cooking from Day One to include special sauces and pastas that greatly enhance every Italian dish he prepares. Every day at La Lanterna, guests can enjoy dishes such as Clams Provincial, Penne alla Sorrentino, the spectacular Chicken Cacciatore, Saltimbocca alla Romana, and Shrimp fra Diavolo, which in Chef Hank Barrett’s hands comfort food has become excellent food.
